Description

This property is situated at the end of a highly regarded terrace of houses which overlook the Holy Trinity Church, right in the centre of the village. You approach the property through a decorative wrought iron gate and a stone path leads you through the garden to the front door. Once inside you immediately notice the exposed stone flooring throughout the hallway which leads to all rooms on the ground floor and stairs to the first floor. The sitting room is a comfortable room with exposed wooden floor, feature log burner fireplace with beautiful bespoke wooden cupboards in the alcoves and large bay windows with shutters overlooking the front garden. At this end of the house you also find a utility room to the rear aspect with plenty of space for appliances and access to the rear garden. As the hallway leads you through the house you pass a reception room to the rear aspect and a study to the front aspect before entering into the recently built and extended kitchen dining area. A lovely light space with floor to ceiling sliding glazed doors allowing natural light to flood in and provide views over the garden and to the church beyond. A modern open plan space with hi-spec finish throughout the kitchen and with a walk-in pantry. The dining area is to the rear aspect and provides ample storage space with bespoke wooden built cupboards lining the wall and glazed double doors leading to the rear garden. The dining area has been opened up onto a family room/snug making this a great entertaining space. Stairs rise from the hallway to the first floor landing which gives access to all bedrooms and bathroom. Bedroom one is a very spacious room with exposed wooden flooring, feature fireplace, walk-in wardrobe, large bay window with wooden shutters and an ensuite shower room. There are four further double bedrooms and a large bathroom with roll top bath and walk-in shower. Externally the front garden has a southerly aspect and is mainly laid to lawn with established beds, shrubs and small trees. There is a wooden decked seating area directly outside the glazed doors of the kitchen which is somewhat of a sun trap and provides lovely views across to the church. To the rear the garden is terraced with stone chipped seating areas with a driveway that leads to a stone built garage. This provides off-street parking for up to three vehicles.

History

The cottages of DeMontalt Place were built in 1729 and were the first buildings to form the modern village. They were also a fine example of early industrial housing being built to house quarrymen working for Ralph Allen. Formerly referred to as 'The Old Rank' it consists of 11 cottages designed by John Wood and built by Richard Jones who was Ralph Allen's foreman and resided at Dial House in the centre of the rank.
